Dado

What is a Dado?

A dado can be either a joint within a wood board or a the lower portion of a wall.

The joint is a groove cut into a piece of wood where the edge of another piece of wood can be snuggly secured. They are common in cabinet and bookshelf construction.

Dados also run horizontally across walls and look different than the wall’s upper section. They can be used for storage or protect the wall from damage by furniture.
