A concealed hinge, also known as “”European Style,”” lays flush against a cabinet door so that you can’t see it. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, concealed hinges are also easier to remove or adjust and helps prevent door slamming.
There are three types of concealed hinges: full overlay, half overlay, and inset. Full overlay is most common, and positions the door in front of the cabinet so that the whole cabinet frame is covered. Half overlay hingers are used when two doors are hinged against the same panel. Each door cover half the panel so that when the doors are closed, the panel isn’t visible. Inset hinges have no overlay, meaning the door is within the cabinet frame and doesn’t cover the cabinet box at all.
