Burnishing

What is Burnishing?

Burnishing is a wood finishing technique. It involves rubbing two pieces of wood against each other until the soft, outer wood comes off, revealing the stronger wood underneath and providing a glossy sheen.

Burnishing is used when there isn’t time or desire to apply finishing chemicals to wood, but provides a similar finish to polyurethane or lacquer. Burnishing is used for furniture, cabinets, and floors.
