Build-up strips are small strips of wood used to raise countertops off of their base cabinets. These strips are usually 3/4 of an inch tall.

Build-up stripes are mostly used to make sure the lips of countertops don’t get in the way of opening and closing the drawers beneath them. They also add additional support for heavy countertops and appliances that will primarily live on top of them.
